Billing and Plans

Billing and plan settings live in organization admin because they affect the whole workspace.

What billing controls

Depending on your workspace, billing can show:

  • current plan
  • trial state
  • checkout or upgrade options
  • renewal dates
  • cancellation state
  • scheduled downgrades
  • billing warnings

Use billing when plan or payment changes affect the organization, not just one status page.

Trials

During a trial, use the workspace to confirm the core operating flow:

  1. create a page
  2. build a small hierarchy
  3. publish a test incident
  4. try subscriptions or Slack if they matter to your team
  5. decide which plan features you need before rollout

Plan changes

Before changing plans, check which features your team depends on.

Common plan-sensitive areas include:

  • advanced access controls
  • SSO
  • audit logs
  • Slack
  • Beats
  • Terraform
  • custom views or RSS limits

If a feature becomes read-only after a plan change, review the workspace state before removing any related configuration.

Who should manage billing

Billing is usually owned by organization admins, finance owners, or workspace owners.

Page operators should know where billing lives, but they usually should not own plan changes unless they also own the tenant.
