Page Authentication

StatiBeat separates page-admin authentication from private-page viewer access.

Page-admin authentication​

Page-admin authentication controls who can operate a status page.

Use it for admins and operators who need to:

  • manage incidents
  • manage maintenance
  • change page settings
  • configure integrations
  • manage access

Page-admin authentication may use SSO when that feature is enabled for the workspace.

Viewer access​

Viewer access controls who can read a private status page.

Viewer access can use:

  • shared password
  • viewer SSO
  • shared password or viewer SSO

Viewer access does not grant admin permissions.

Which one should you configure?​

Configure page-admin authentication when the question is, "who can operate this page?"

Configure viewer access when the question is, "who can read this private page?"

Many teams use both. For example, operators may sign in with admin SSO while customers view a private page through viewer SSO.
